SHUOHTAY at JIMTOF 2026: Talking Through Every Detail of Metalworking in Tokyo

From Machining Quality to Everyday Fluid Care

Tool life, workpiece surface finish and rust protection are the concerns every shop floor keeps coming back to. Just as closely tied to fluid selection: whether a cutting fluid holds stable, whether it’s prone to odor, and how easy it is to maintain day to day.

These questions rarely have an answer outside their actual operating conditions. The same product can call for a different approach depending on the material being machined, water conditions, machining method, and how a shop manages its fluid.

For SHUOHTAY, this is exactly where an exhibition earns its value — starting from these details, understanding the problem a customer actually needs solved, and letting a product introduction grow into a concrete discussion of application.

EMULCOR PBC and NBC: Starting From the Material, Talking Through Formulation Needs

Our booth centered on two concentrates, EMULCOR PBC and NBC, each introduced through the machining materials and formulation needs it addresses.

PBC, a rust-preventive concentrate, was introduced around the rust-protection needs of ferrous metals — cast iron, carbon steel and stainless steel — keeping the conversation grounded in the machining process and in protecting the finished workpiece afterward. The points visitors asked about most were hard-water tolerance above 500 ppm, resistance to bacteria and odor, and how well it keeps protecting workpieces against rust through later processing stages — and how convenient that post-processing is.

NBC, an eco-friendly concentrate, takes non-ferrous machining as its starting point, aluminum alloys in particular, with its formulation design and application direction laid out for customers to weigh against their own process conditions. Free of boron and chlorine and compliant with EU standards, NBC matches the same 500 ppm-plus hard-water tolerance, and its plant-based, environmentally friendly formulation paired with strong rust protection has drawn particular interest from high-end aluminum users such as the aerospace sector.

Choosing a concentrate can’t come down to a single spec — formulation fit, working concentration and shop-floor conditions all have to be weighed together. Through face-to-face discussion, SHUOHTAY hoped to give customers a clearer picture of where each product stands, and to lay the groundwork for the technical exchange and application evaluation that follows.

Why tramp oil deserves its own conversation

Way oils, lubricants and other fluids that were never part of the cutting-fluid system in the first place can still find their way into the sump as equipment runs — becoming the tramp oil every shop has to manage.

That’s why, when evaluating a cutting-fluid system, it’s worth looking beyond lubrication and rust protection to how well it separates tramp oil once it gets in, and whether the shop has the right equipment and routine in place to skim it off and keep the system maintained.

Tramp-oil separation was another focal point of this show’s product introduction. EMULCOR’s micro-emulsion compatibility technology keeps tramp oil from blending into the emulsion; by density difference it rises to the surface, where a skimmer can simply lift it off, keeping the cutting fluid clean. The point of discussing this feature wasn’t just to explain the formulation — it was to help customers see that fluid selection and sump management have to be considered together before maintenance load and fluid-change needs can really be assessed.

For a shop floor, purchase price is only part of the picture — the time spent cleaning tanks, changing fluid and standing idle is just as much a part of the real cost of use.

Carrying Tokyo’s Conversations Into Concrete Service

Now that the show has closed, SHUOHTAY will be following up on every product question and partnership inquiry raised at JIMTOF, providing further materials and technical discussion matched to each customer’s machining material, formulation needs and operating conditions.

If you’d like to learn more about the EMULCOR PBC and NBC concentrate series, or are currently evaluating metalworking-fluid formulations and applications for your own lines, we’d welcome the chance to talk — starting from your actual needs.

Our thanks to every customer and partner who visited, and to the team behind the preparation and on-site service that made it possible. Every question asked and every experience shared has given us a clearer sense of direction for what comes next.

We look forward to carrying the conversations that began in Tokyo onto many more shop floors.
